The Washington Post today editorialized urging County Executive Leggett and the County Council to fully fund a new facility to provide both safe child exchange and supervised visitation services to families experiencing domestic violence.

anxious childMr. Leggett’s new budget for fiscal year 2018 will be made public March 14th. It is critical that adequate funds be set aside to address the large demand for these basic services that protect the physical and emotional safety of vulnerable domestic violence victims and their children.

Court Watch will be testifying before the County Council in support of safe visitation services.  We will be working to either shepard Mr. Leggett’s budget line item through the Council process, or working with Council members to add the necessary funds to make our first County-funded Safe Visitation Center a viable and meaningful service for residents.
