Court Watch Montgomery has issued eleven reports, and testified in numerous venues. Our reports analyze data we collect in approximately one thousand protective order and criminal domestic violence hearings each year. We also collect information on domestic violence homicides state-wide.
Recommendations in our reports are based on suggestions set forth by judges themselves, in the Maryland Judges Domestic Violence Manual and Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges reports. We study “best practices” being used across the country. We also listen carefully to what victims have to say about their court experiences. What obstacles do they encounter that keep them from returning to court to get the full legal protection they need?
